Colchester Zoo’s mission is to: Provide a first class experience for all its visitors and at the same time further understanding and respect for animals. Through visitors’ funds, Colchester Zoo undertakes breeding programmes for endangered species and funds in situ projects in the wild.

What do you wear to a zoo experience?
Clothing
- You MUST NOT wear dresses, skirts or shorts.
- You MUST wear long trousers which you do not mind getting dirty.
- Refrain from wearing jewellery.
- Pack waterproofs in case it rains and sun screen and a sun hat if your experience is booked to take place in the summer.
How do you use Tesco vouchers at Colchester Zoo?
Unfortunately Colchester Zoo is no longer able to accept Tesco Vouchers as a form of payment. All tickets must be purchased online in advance of your visit to assist us with managing the capacity within the park, sadly it is not currently viable for us to offer any other discounts which includes Tesco Vouchers.
Are there flamingos at Colchester Zoo?
The zoo’s 15 Chilean flamingos have now started to build their own nests. A similar idea has been used at other zoos, but Colchester are particularly pleased with the reaction of their birds. Known for their exotic pink feathers, the flamingos really seem to have enjoyed the unusual addition to their enclosure.

How do I get into Colchester Zoo with a disability?
Admission tickets Any guest with a disability will be required to purchase the relevant adult, child or senior admission ticket, online in advance to enter the zoo. Colchester Zoo will then admit an assistant FREE of charge, upon request when verification of disability is shown.

Can I smoke in Colchester Zoo?
As a family friendly attraction Colchester Zoo promotes a no-smoking policy. We kindly ask visitors to refrain from both smoking and vaping. Should a visitor need to smoke or vape we have various dedicated smoking zones within the park which we ask visitors to smoke within. These are detailed on the park map.
